About the Event

OBOB is a statewide voluntary reading motivation and comprehension program sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries and a long time tradition for Highland.  The kids form teams of 4 (5 if an alternate is selected) and are tasked with reading a list of 16 OBOB committee selected books through January 2020. In late January, we start doing voluntary “practice battles” during lunch where the teams are asked detailed questions about the books.  This leads up to final elimination battles held after school at Highland that determine which winning team will be sent to regional and state competitions.  Parents will be required to sign a permission slip for their student and there is a $20 per team fee that covers our school registration in OBOB and administrative costs of the program.  Parents of students who make it to regional and state competition are responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs. We will be asking for parent volunteers to help make this program a success.  We will hold a parent night with detailed information in December, but feel free to reach out to Angie Klee if you have questions before then:  angie.klee@yahoo.com
