VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES 

Highland PTO Open Board Positions for the 2021-2022 School Year 

Treasurer:

  • Work with PTO President and Mr. Kissell to create the budget.

  • Works closely with Giving Campaign Coordinator

  • Receives and deposits all money for the PTO / GC. *School Supplies and Boot Camp are first recorded by GC Coordinator.

  • Pays out all expenses.

  • Records all receipts and expenditures in Quickbooks.

  • Checks the PTO box in the office for bills, check requests, etc. 

  • Monthly bank reconciliation and budget updates.

  • Works with CPA to prepare yearly tax returns.

  • File annual report with SOS.

Volunteer Coordinator :

  • Coordinate and recruit volunteers for Highland events and activities throughout the year.  Works closely with office staff, teachers, parents and PTO Communications and PTO Event Coordinators, by creating sign-ups, sending emails to volunteers, ensuring volunteer spots are filled, and attending PTO/Event/PTO Board Meetings.

  • Candidate must be a great communicator and comfortable using technology.  Web tools used include Sign Up Genius per current platform.

  • Monitor Sign-Ups, checking multiple times a week for updates. 

  • Notify PTO Communications when email or Facebook notifications are needed and when updates are needed to the volunteer section of the website.  Also provide information to Communications for the volunteer section of the monthly PTO newsletter.

Event Coordinator :

  • Coordinates social and educational events for Highland families- Fall Festival, Speaker Series, Unplugged Week, etc.  

  • Works closely with volunteer coordinators and communications coordinator for promoting events and acquiring necessary volunteers to help run events

  • Works with the Treasurer on budgets for events as well as for getting payments for vendors/materials/products etc. for events.

  • Should  be organized, a thoughtful and creative planner, and comfortable seeking out and contacting outside merchants/speakers/businesses as well as Highland parents and families that could contribute to Highland events. 

  • Provide PTO Communications update and info on events for monthly PTO newsletter and for FB event posts.

  • Partners with Shawna to communicate upcoming events for weekly school newsletter / school event reservation requirements.

Enrichment Coordinator :

  • Handles Box Tops collections for two submission dates, November 1 & March 1.  Works with the classrooms to organize and distribute collection bags for a classroom competition (typically the month of February for the March 1 submission).  

  • Manages and provides updates on eScrip, Fred Meyer rewards, Amazon Smile, etc. and looks into updates on those programs and ways to get families enrolled. 

  • Helps with thank you cards to donors for events and other activities/services.

  • Communicates with communications about ordering box tops flyers, and sending out emails for box tops collections announcements 

  • School Clubs Liaison - organize opportunities of involvement for school clubs and update PTO on current club activities, etc. throughout the school year.
